To capture an image to use with DERM, you will need three hardware components:
Skin Analytics assesses combinations of hardware components and has a list of those that we are confident will work safely with DERM.
Our AI medical device (DERM) has been trained and tested on certain types of hardware. Using different types of hardware that haven’t been reviewed by Skin Analytics introduces a risk that something about the hardware doesn’t work well and performance would not be as expected, with impacts on patient safety on the pathway. For this reason, DERM’s instructions for use state that it should only be used with approved hardware.
If you used other hardware, the performance of DERM would be unpredictable. Only the approved hardware has been verified to achieve DERM’s expected performance. Use of DERM on other hardware would be outside of its intended use. Equally, the user would be liable for any underperformance of DERM.
If you have any concerns that unapproved hardware has been or is being used, please contact [email protected] with details.
Approved hardware should used in line with the instructions for use, which can be found here: https://skin-analytics.com/derm/resources/
As of January 2025 the approved hardware list to be used with DERM is as follows:
