DermLite DL1 Basic

The DermLite DL1 Basic has a glass faceplate (indicated as E in the diagram below) which can if necessary be removed for cleaning. Note, for day to day cleaning we recommend not to remove the faceplate as only the exterior will come into contact with patients.

The glass faceplate can be removed by rotating the bayonet ring (D) counterclockwise.

If the faceplate is removed, care must be taken to ensure that it is placed into the dermoscope the correct way round.

Should the faceplate be the wrong way around, this may affect image quality and could impact the AI assessment of the lesion, giving an unpredictable result.

Ensuring the faceplate is replaced correctly

You will find that if you attempt to add the faceplate the incorrect way, the bayonet ring will not screw into place properly.

A good indication that the faceplate is inserted the correct way round is that the 10 mm scale starts with the ‘mm’ on the left hand side when looking at the dermoscopic in the orientation pictured below.

Dermoscopic images

You will be able to tell if the faceplate has been inserted correctly in the dermoscopic images.

When the faceplate is correct, the 10mm scale will end with the ‘mm’ on the right hand side.
